So, we have been exploring the incredibly beautiful Konkan part of Maharashtra these days whenever we get a chance and after Ganpatipule, the circuit of Dapoli came next on our radar.
Let me be perfectly honest – prior to this, Dapoli was nowhere, never in my featured list of places to visit in Maharashtra. So when hubby suggested we visit Dapoli, I was kind of intrigued as to why would anyone want to spend their vacation in a luxury hotel in a place like Dapoli?
Having now visited though, I have a completely different take. For one, I love the fact that Dapoli is kinda unpretentious, offbeat as they say, this helps keep the non-discerning traveler at bay. Kinda unpretentious, I say, because with its proximity to pristine beaches, age old temples, historical caves and forts - Dapoli has enough to offer to everyone and is increasingly attracting a lot of tourist footfall from Mumbai and Pune as a weekend destination. What I really absolutely love about Dapoli is its setting in nature, surrounded by rolling mountains, lush green palm trees, beaches coupled with the pleasant weather – Dapoli clearly is a land cradled by Mother Nature herself.
An interesting fact is that Dapoli was once known as Camp Dapoli as many Britishers set their camps here during the British Raj. However, all you see today are booming realty projects, apartments under construction, gated villa rowhouses and plots for sale. By the end of the trip, we were so lured by the place and the row houses that I and Mr. indulged in some wishful thinking of actually relocating here, one day. Well, who knows!
Why Hotel Sadhana Executive is a Perfect Budget Friendly Beach Stay in Dapoli?
If I could describe Hotel Sadhana Executive in one word, I would say “Home away from Home”.
With hubby’s birthday round the corner, the goal of the trip was to simply relax along with indulging in a bit of a work, so in essence it was supposed to be a staycation plus workation! We chose Hotel Sadhana Executive for our weekend trip to Dapoli due to its idyllic setting - proximity to the beach, peaceful nature views all around the property, in house lawns, swimming pool, indoor game room and restaurant. We wanted to stay somewhere closer to the beach and the city and yet away from the bustle and the noise, so it was a perfect choice!
Clean, Spacious Rooms with a HUGE Balcony!
The moment I stepped in the resort, I fell in love with it! The resort is incredibly beautiful and we were really happy with our comfort room. True to its name, the room was comfortable and spacious with a clean, simple, minimalistic look with a touch of luxury which is something I really appreciate. The room featured a large king bed, a wall mounted TV, AC and a balcony.
The bathroom was pretty spacious as well and came stacked with all the basic toiletries.
The best part of the room (and my favorite), however, was its balcony – it was really huge and had a very relaxing view! I could also witness a beautiful sunrise from my balcony first thing after waking up in the morning which made me instantly happy.
The balcony was separated from the room by big floor to ceiling windows which gave us great views even while resting / working in the room.
Amenities and Facilities
Without going overboard, Hotel Sadhana Executive offers just about enough amenities to keep its guests relaxed as well as engaged during their stay in nature dipped Dapoli.
For one, there is a swimming pool to cool off and beat the heat of the day.
Then, there is a well-manicured garden and lawn and there are nice paths where you can walk on. One of these paths lead to an indoor game room where you can lock horns in a friendly game of carom, table tennis or snooker. I and hubby did indulge in a game of TT (we both were playing it after a long time) that was simply amazing!
Homely Food
The restaurant is on the ground floor, serving authentic fresh and flavorful fare and has a casual vibe, with both plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
We had breakfast here both mornings, which is served in buffet style from 7 AM until 10 AM.
Misal pav with farsaan topping on the first morning was excellent, and so were the other items like upma and idli which made the entire platter pretty wholesome. The next day, we ordered a plate of pohe in our room which we enjoyed with the views of the sunrise.
Dinner was the usual fare but everything was fresh and served hot by the in-house staff. We sampled their subzis, tandoori roti, dal tadka, vegetable pulav, etc and liked it all.
Not only was the food good, but the staff were always attentive to our needs and preferences and served with a smile which added to the entire experience. All in all, it was an all-around great meal, with delicious food and friendly service.
Homely Ambiance and Top Notch Hospitality
Service at Hotel Sadhana Executive was excellent across the board. On the second day, when my husband was down with a severe gastric dehydration issue and it was a time when I missed being around family and helped by their support. But, everyone at the hotel - Capt. Vinayak ji, and his entire team - from the housekeeping to the front office end to the restaurant staff went out of their way to bring medicines, take care and assist us in the situation. They were professional at every step and yet there was an effortless human touch which was really something that I especially appreciated.
Final Thoughts
The resort is incredibly beautiful and we were really happy with our accommodations, the service and the hotel’s amenities.
It is strategically located in the midst of the town so that you aren’t far away from the Ladghar beach nor the main city and yet you can savor that peace.
If you’re looking to visit a beachy destination that’s not too touristy like Goa but still is sunny, beautiful and warm all year long and want to stay at an intimate luxury resort, then I can’t recommend Hotel Sadhana in Dapoli enough!
How to reach Dapoli?
There are basically 3 options to go from Mumbai to Dapoli:
1. Car: You can either self-drive or hire a cab to reach Dapoli. The total distance from Mumbai to Dapoli is 226 km which is approximately 6 hour drive from Mumbai.
2. Bus: Regular AC luxury sleeper buses ply from Mumbai to Dapoli, leaving Mumbai overnight and reaching Dapoli early next morning. These cost anywhere around Rs. 800 per pax and are pretty convenient too if you enjoy bus travel.
3. Train: The option which I prefer is train, it not only saves time but is also the most cost effective of all the three transport options.
